Letter of support for Greece

Letter of support for Greece

Over the past five years, the EU and the IMF have imposed unprecedented austerity on Greece. It has failed badly. The economy has shrunk by 26%, unemployment has risen to 27%, youth unemployment to 60% and, the debt-to-GDP ratio jumped from 120% to 180%. The economic catastrophe has led to a humanitarian crisis, with more than 3 million people on or below the poverty line. Letter of support for Greece

Lu Pingyuan, living and working in Shanghai, is a young, one of a kind artist. He expresses his thoughts and art concepts through “stories” he creates: a practice of his own, rare in the art world. His stories – often extraordinary, enigmatic, wondrous, eventually frightening – are all developed from art-related topics. Lu Pingyuan 陆平原

Yan Lei 颜磊

https://yanleidocumenta13.wordpress.com

YAN Lei was born in Hebei Province, China in 1965, and graduated from the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now known as the China Academy of Art), in Hangzhou, in 1991. Yan is a singular and unconventional figure in the Chinese contemporary art world. Adopting an independent and distant attitude, he explores and unveils different issues, such as power relationship, competition or the closeness of values and prices, that exist in the art system, through various media ranging from painting, sculpture, installation to video and performance. His works often incorporate multiple and often contradictory values. This ambiguousness shows, on the one hand, the artist’s alertness to and reflection on the various problems in art making today, and on the other, the solitude that he has from being part of the system and his complex feelings confronted with vulgar reality. Marianne Heier 马瑞安•海儿

http://marianneheier.no/

Marianne Heier (b. 1969) lives and works in Oslo. In her projects she often explores specific institutions ‘from the inside’. Her work can be seen as situated within an institution-critical artistic tradition; but Heier’s critique from the inside is more often the result of personal engagement, motivated by personal, lived experience, than of a calculated, strategic institution-critical praxis. Questions related to economy and the circulation of value are central in her work, and she has often used gifts as an artistic strategy. Marianne Heier 马瑞安•海儿

Li Zhenhua: Viewer is the closest person for the artist
李振华:对艺术家来说观众是最亲近的人
英译中:马楠

Li Zhenhua is one of curators of the Main project of the 3rd Ural Industrial biennial of contemporary art. He has visited Ekaterinburg in April. We discussed what it means to be a curator, that a budget does not always play a definitive role and that a viewer is the same art object as a piece of art. To illustrate this interview we’ve chosen some projects of the artists who are working with Zhenhua.
李振华是第三届乌拉尔工业双年展当代艺术部分的主项目策展人。他四月份到访叶卡捷林堡期间我们探讨了什么是策展人,还谈到展览预算不总是决定性因素,以及观众和艺术作品同样重要等等问题。
